This forum will answer frequently asked questions about interior and exterior foundation problems, foundation repair, crawl space services, information on cracks in concrete and bricks, warranties, and more!

  • A: Common signs of interior and exterior foundation problems include: Bowed walls, open spaces around windows and window frames, sticking doors, cracked sheetrock, uneven or shaky floors. Check your structure for cracking bricks, blocks, and mortar that form horizontally, vertically, or stair step-like fissures. These are all signs of failure in your footing. Cracks in the foundation walls typically appear at the weakest points, including corners, edges of window frames, openings for service (such as HVAC systems), concrete cold joints, long spans of walls, pipe penetration, and along the tie rods in the foundation.

  • A: Foundation Pro utilizes the Steel Pier Piling System to support and stabilize the foundation by transferring the weight of the structure off the weaker soils and onto the steel pier. Through a hydraulic driving pump assembly, a series of steel pilings sections (3 ½ inches O.D. ¼ walls with connecting inserts) are injected into ground until they reach bedrock or load bearing strata. A pressure gauge is read to determine the precise level of maximum support. A manifold system is used for multiple piers for maximum lifting precision. The bracket is then bolted to the piling.

  • A: For structures on a pier-and-beam, or crawl space foundations with interior problems, we use the Interior Pier and Treated Girder System. This is a two-step process. First, a concrete footing is poured with two sections of rebar. After a minimum of a 36-hour drying process, adjustable steel posts (with lag screws into girder) and/or concrete blocks (with mortar) are installed in order to raise or support joists, walls and flooring. A Treated Wood Girder System connects the piers and steel shims applied where needed.

  • A: Foundation Pro uses pressurized, structural Polyurethane that expands to high density in order to help stabilize soils, fill voids and/or raise concrete slabs. A 5/8-inch port is drilled into the slab and a two-part polymer solution is injected under the slab. The curing process usually takes only 2-4 hours. The injection ports are patched with mortar or grout upon completion. This method is used to raise interior residential and commercial slabs, concrete porches, driveways, pool decks, sidewalks and more!

  • A: Foundation problems can be caused from a variety of sources that affect new and older homes. Seasonal weather periods, with wet and dry cycles, produce changes in the soil bed under the home’s foundation. This causes expansive clays to shrink and swell, which can crack the concrete footings and cause settlement issues. Large tree roots can drink water close to parts of the foundation and compromise the structure by growing under footings. Poor drainage, insufficient amount or lack of rebar or improper rebar placement, soil compaction, poor soil conditions, and plumbing leaks are some of the additional causes of foundation problems.

  • A: Foundation Pro is a certified to install Carbon Fiber Concrete Staples with Epoxy. The hybrid grid strap system is comprised of high tensile strength carbon fibers woven together. This is designed for stabilizing both poured concrete and block walls. Due to the extreme high strength-to-weight ratio, carbon fiber reinforcement is often the repair material of choice for bowed basement walls, bridge columns, and concrete beams to restore and maintain structural integrity.

  • A: Foundation Pro provides free structural foundation inspections in the central Arkansas area! We will put into writing a detailed estimate concerning foundation repair costs and solutions.
