Common signs of interior and exterior foundation problems include: Bowed walls, open spaces around windows and window frames, sticking doors, cracked sheetrock, uneven or shaky floors. Check your structure for cracking bricks, blocks, and mortar that form horizontally, vertically, or stair step-like fissures. These are all signs of failure in your footing. Cracks in the foundation walls typically appear at the weakest points, including corners, edges of window frames, openings for service (such as HVAC systems), concrete cold joints, long spans of walls, pipe penetration, and along the tie rods in the foundation.
